“Respect the Constitution” Web Campaign!

Zone9 is an informal group of young Ethiopian bloggers and activists working to create an alternative independent narration of the socio-political conditions in Ethiopia and thereby foster public discourse that seeks the emergence of ideas for the betterment of the Nation.

In the effort to meet our objectives, we plan to conduct different online campaigns that we believe will inform citizens and call for good governance. Among the continuous campaigns we plan to hold, the first one will be launched on the coming December 6 – 8, 2012 under the motto “Respect the Constitution.”

December 8, 2012 marks the 18th year of the signing in to action of the Constitution of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The 1994 constitution is the fourth in the modern history of the country. Many believe that the 1994 constitution has incorporated clauses that gives power to the people and ensures democratic values in general. However, there still exist rampant lack of good governance and gross Human Rights abuses that were guaranteed in the constitution.

Although there are still disputes over some articles in the constitution, the majority of the articles are endorsed by all political actors. Our campaign aims at promoting these widely accepted articles of the constitution and calls for the respect of the provisions of the supreme law of the land by all organs of government and citizens.

The campaign mainly will be held on Twitter and Facebook. We will publish articles on our blog (http://zone9ethio.blogspot.com) which will be shared on both social Medias. Status updates and tweets (containing unique hash tags including ‘#RespectTheConstitution’) will be made. Banners will also be developed to be used as a profile picture throughout the campaign period.

We hereby call all Zone9 followers, friends and all those who wish to see the respect of the constitution to actively participate in the campaign by sharing your view of the constitution, incidents of violation of the provisions, poor enforcement of the enshrined provisions of the constitution, changing your profile pictures to the campaign banners and spreading the reach of the campaign.

ዞን 9 ኢ-መደበኛ የጦማርያን እና አራማጆች ቡድን ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ስላለው ማኅበረሰባዊ እና ፖለቲካዊ ሁኔታ የተለየ እና ወገናዊ ያልሆነ ተረክ ለመፍጠር እየሠራ የሚገኝ የኢትዮጵያዊያን ስብስብ ነው፡፡ የቡድኑ ዓላማ ሁሉም ኢትዮጵያውያን የሀገሪቷ ጉዳይ በእኩል ስሜት ያገባኛል ብለው ውይይት የማድረግ ባሕል እንዲያሳድጉ በማድረግ ሀገሪቷን በሁሉም መስኮች ወደተሻለ ደረጃ የሚያደርሱ ሐሳቦች እንዲወለዱ ማመቻቸት ነው፡፡

ይህንንም ዓላማ ከግብ ለማድረስ የተለያዩ የበይነ-መረብ ዘመቻዎች ለማካኼድ ዕቅድ ተይዟል፡፡ ከዘመቻዎቹም መካከል የመጀመሪያው ‹‹ሕገ-መንግሥቱ ይከበር›› በሚል መርኽ ከኅዳር 27 – 29 ቀን 2005 ዓ.ም ይካሄዳል፡፡

ኅዳር 29 ቀን 2005ዓ.ም. የኢትዮጵያ ፌደራላዊ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ሪፐብሊክ ሕገ-መንግሥት ከተፈረመ 18 ዓመት ይሆነዋል፡፡ በ1987 ዓ.ም ወደሕልውና የመጣው ሕገ-መንግሥት በኢትዮጵያ ዘመናዊ ታሪክ አራተኛው ነው፡፡ ይኸው ሕገ-መንግሥት ከሚቀድሙት ሕገ-መንግሥቶች በተሻለ ሕዝብን የሥልጣን ባለቤት ያደረገና ለዴሞክራሲያዊ እሴቶች የተሻለ ትኩረት የሰጠ እንደሆነ የብዙዎች እምነት ነው፡፡ ሆኖም በሕገ-መንግሥቱ ውስጥ የተደነገጉ ሰብዓዊ መብቶች እና የመልካም አስተዳደር መርኾዎች በተደጋጋሚ ሲጣሱ ይስተዋላል፡፡

በሕገ-መንግሥቱ ውስጥ ከተካተቱት ድንጋጌዎች ጥቂቶቹ አሁንም ድረስ አከራካሪ ናቸው፡፡ አብዛኞቹ ድንጋጌዎች ግን የጋራ መግባባት የተደረሰባቸው ናቸው፡፡ የዚህ ዘመቻ ዓላማ በዋነኝነት የሚሆነውም እነዚህን የጋራ መግባቢያ ላይ የተደረሰባቸውን የሕገ-መንግሥቱ ድንጋጌዎች ማስተዋወቅ እና የሕጎች ሁሉ የበላይ የሆነውን ሕገ-መንግሥት ሁሉም የመንግሥት አካላት እና ዜጎች እንዲያከብሩ እና አንዲያስከብሩ መጠየቅ ነው፡፡

ዘመቻው በዋነኛነት የሚካሄደው ‹‹ፌስቡክ›› እና ‹‹ትዊተርን›› በመጠቀም ይሆናል፡፡ ሕገ-መንግሥትን በተመለከተ የተለያዩ ጽሑፎች በጦማራችን የሚወጡ ሲሆን በፌስቡክ እና በትዊተርም ላይ ይወጣሉ፡፡ (ለዚህም ‘#RespectTheConstitution’ንጨምሮ ሌሎችንም የትዊተር ‹ታግ› እንጠቀማለን፤) በሁለቱም የማኅበረሰብ ገጾች ላይ ለዚሁ ዘመቻ ሲባል የተዘጋጁ አጫጭር ጽሑፎች ይሰራጫሉ፡፡ ዘመቻውን የሚመለከቱ ‹ባነሮች› ተዘጋጅተው ዘመቻው በሚቆይባቸው ቀናት የፕሮፋይል ፎቶ ይሆናሉ፡፡

በዚሁ አጋጣሚ ለመላው የዞን9 ነዋሪዎች እና ሕገ-መንግሥቱ ተከብሮ ማየት ለምትፈልጉ ኢትዮጵያዊያን በሙሉ ሕገ-መንግሥቱ ላይ ያላችሁን አመለካከት፣ ሕገ-መንግሥቱ የተጣሰባቸውን ክስተቶች በማካፈል እንዲሁም የፕሮፋይል ፎቷችሁን በመቀየር የዘመቻው ንቁ ተሳታፊ እንድትሆኑ በትህትና እንጠይቃለን፡፡
